On
July 21, 2006 .. during the monster San Diego Comic-con
of '06..
Warner
Bros. Pictures held a special animation panel featuring
three of their newest features in production or soon to be released.
'The Ant Bully '& 'Happy
Feet '..were the first two movies previewed at
this panel. Some of their creators & writers,trailers,special
clips & a Q & A for the new shows were all had during
this special panel. The third animated feature during this panel
was TMNT (.. the official working title) !!
This
was news Turtle-lovers had been waiting for
13 years + !!
The
all CGI feature is the Turtles 4th film and
technically serves as TMNT movie IV
!!
While
the prior movies will be served as a light history for the new
movie. Kevin
Munroe ..director of the project said that
TMNT will be getting a treatment similar to 'Superman
Returns'..and open up a new chapter in the Turtles
lives.
This
won't be a whole re-telling of the franchise similar to
the 'Batmant Begins'
film.
This
will introduce whole new generation to the classic reptile gang
& promises to recapture the classic,darker elements of the
original comics,styling & original movie ( ..don't worry
tho' ..Michaelangelo still raves :'Cowabunga' & gets fat
on pizza .. ;] ..)..
The
movie will take the Turtles in a whole new direction. A story
of great new challenges in their lives..as the world has changed..
so has Splinter's crew. Even Casey
& April are coming of age and their relationship
is evolving. Tough choices Casey must
soon make will effect this greatly. And it is apperant we'll
get to see April kick major
shell ..serious !! !! While not the main villians the Foot
serve as a major element in the show.. and tOkKa's
favourite classic Turtle comic character: 'Karai'
..makes her big screen debut. A new villanous
threat ..larger and more super-natural than anything the Turtes
have ever faced.
The
late actor 'Mako'
(who sadly passed away on during the weekend of the Con).. serves
as the majority of vocal work for Splinter..
and the short amount of raw footage of the movie Mr.Munroe
was kind enough to share with the audiance was amazing. Splinter
was exceptionally cool !! We even got to see some new
villians,Karai & the Foot in action.
If successful ..the mention of a possible 5th Ninja
Turtle feature ..and maybe even the return of
Shredder (!?) !! ??
While
it's all my prickly,often despised & tattered opinion..
Long
time & hard-core TMNT fans i'm really sure
will appreciate the direction that Kevin is
going with the franchise.Direct involvment & guidance with
Peter Laird & Mirage was necessary
& was received. you can really tell Mr.Munroe
cares about the Turtles and that great care has
taken been taken to get the true vision Laird has
always wanted ..i even recall a breif positive comment and props
by .. .. .. Kevin Eastman based on
what he saw !!
The
Turtes are getting all out all-star'Bat
Man' like treatment.. n' we may be in for a blockbuster
,blockheads !!
While
at first i was concerned for the lack of physical,puppetry,live
& costume elements that made the first three movies so dear
to me.. and lucid & fake feel i get from so many 100 % CGI
animated features.. the feel of animation is up to par to what
PIXAR ..and the animation was cool,rather
life-like as far as movment.
This
'toon looks slick n' not like it was made on a 'Nintendo
64' !!Just the teaser alone made me cry. It really
was summin' special to behold.
As
a Turtle-sponge.. meaning .. every shell-shaped
salad bowl,plastron ash tray,TMNT cartoon, live action show,toy
figure,Splinter Soap-on-a Rope,Pillow
ninja,Casey Jones antiperspirant and
Shredder Enema-kit.. ..i fall in
love with..
..i
appreciate Kevin's acknowledgement of TMNT II,III
..(yep that's right ..after all i am named after 'tOkKa', dumm-dumms
and this whole web site was based on the premise of the whole
silly sequal of TMNT II .. i still say those were damm gooey-good
movies !! Wanna fight about it !? Meet me out side.. i'll bite
ya knee-caps off !! That's right !! Ya read it right,buster
!! ..c'mon TMNT sequal haters ..les'rumble !!) ..
Whatever..even
if the fact is i love those movies for sentimental reasons ect.
.. it shows Munroe even cares about
oddball TMNT fans just like me !!
Well
to the meat of the matter .. n' enuff of all this self-defensive
bull-shanXX ..let's get to the crux of this KriB
entry !!
This
entire event alone was a blast for me.. and got me extremly
excited !! So much so i even made it second in line for
Mr.Munroe's Q & A !! Very surreal and the
coolest Turtle-time i've had in a real long while !! We got
to go to special prize raffle held by big boss ::Gary
Richardson of Mirage and the Playmates
Toys Krew !!
Tickets
to be redeemed at the WB booth for a movie
related prize bag were given out to fans after the panel was
over. The bag included a TMNT manhole cover
magnet for yir fridge.. n' an exclusive TMNT - Sneek
Peak ..comic format book that included artwork::conceptual,background,storyboard,character,prop
..ect ..and a first look at the new and returning supporting
cast !!
While
alot of you may have already seen this.. especially if you attended
the WB panel.. you may already have this special
book. It's already making it's way thru' ebay
& others may have posted it on websites elsewhere ..so there's
still a number of ways to obtain it.

The
entire trip for 2006 was bitter-sweet.. and it broke my heart
that so many of my freinds who tOkKie
loves couldn't go .. so if ya already seen this.. well don't
worry about it.. but..as a service to all my pals who couldn't
go to C-con '06 i have scanned the
entire TMNT - Sneak Peek ** book for
this special gallery for all to see !! Get it while it's hot
n' before Warner Bros. has me assasinated by their lawyers !!

This was a freebie WB gave out att
